Take a quick ferry ride from St. Mary’s to Cumberland Island. At 18 miles and over 9,800 acres of protected land, Cumberland Island is the largest of Georgia’s barrier islands. Despite its complex history with man – from native settlements, the dark history of slavery and the Carnegie family settlement – little remains of past inhabitants outside the 1-room First African Baptist Church and “Dungeness” – the ruins of the steel-magnate, Thomas Carnegie’s winter retreat. The island is home to abundant wildlife and boasts untouched landscapes: wild horses, shore birds, alligators, salt marsh, centuries old maritime forest of dense oak canopies and pristine beaches. Cumberland Island National Seashore is a photographers dream location.
This is a special opportunity for hands-on learning with a skilled photographer in a unique place that will provide a wealth of inspiration. Paul has over 30 years experience shooting for commercial clients world-wide. As your guide, Paul will work with you to plan a photography experience that is geared toward your individual needs and skill-level. These personalized workshops aim to help the intermediate-advanced photographer take their practice to the next level technically and creatively – whether that be getting out of program and into manual or new perspectives on how to shoot for the best results and workflow in post-production. He takes a relaxed approach to teaching you how to get the most out of your camera and is great with problem-solving to help you achieve the goals you are trying to reach.
