Description
An interactive, strategy-driven team-building experience designed to encourage collaboration, creativity, and friendly competition, led by Suzanne Porter, photojournalist and founder of CLIK Gallery (5 bd Gambetta, Grenoble).
HOW IT WORKS
We begin at CLIK Gallery, for a brief interactive session on smartphone photography. Participants will learn some surprisingly simple tricks that will instantly improve their photography, including:
✔ Composition – How to frame a shot for maximum impact
✔ Lighting – How to adjust exposure manually on a smartphone for brighter, more balanced images
✔ Focus & Depth – Using focus lock and portrait mode for professional-looking results
✔ Post-processing – Enhancing photos with Snapseed (a free editing app)
THE CHALLENGE
Participants will then receive a list of creative photo tasks that need to be completed within a specific time and perimeter around CLIK Gallery.
Some challenges will require quick thinking and research, such as:
📍 ‘Search for the stone bridge from 1839, Spanning the Isère, it's easy to find. Pont Marius Gontard, a landmark to see, Capture its stone and history!’
📍 ‘In Grenoble, not by the sea, an oyster awaits for you to see (Hint: Can be found at marché Estacade, a seafood restaurant, or even a mysterious statue near the Université Inter-Âge...)
Other tasks will demand confidence and creativity, such as:
📍 "Find the wedding dress on display, for extra points, catch someone wearing it today!" (There are several bridal shops nearby)
📍 "Capture movement in an unexpected way." (Think beyond the obvious—how can you use blur, perspective, or contrast to show motion?)
Participants will divide into small teams of 3-4 individuals. Each team will have the flexibility to choose how to organize their roles. They can either designate one individual as the photographer, with the remaining members taking on researcher and art director roles, or each participant can capture photos independently, selecting the best shots for an editing session. In both cases, teams will strategise how to capture the best images, using their smartphone cameras to complete as many challenges as possible before the deadline.
However, this is not just about taking a photo and ticking it off the list—the real challenge is to take a great photo, and then an even better one, constantly improving with each shot. Teams will be encouraged to push their creativity and technical skills further with every image they capture.
