Bad AusseeAbout your local photographer
Born in Morocco, I moved to France in my teens and attended the Ecole de Beaux Arts in Montpelier. I then spent nearly 2 decades living in London, a few years in Los Angeles and recently dividing my time between Austria and Morocco.I am also a qualified personal trainer and holistic lifestyle coach, Kettlebell athlete and fully licensed skydiver and skydiving camerawoman.
I have shown my work on four continents and I was honoured to give a TedX Talk in 2013 in Casablanca about one of my project - Latitude 34.
Coming from a mixed culture background, and having lived in various countries, without my family from an early age, translates in a position of the in between, a fault line, feeling foreign and belonging in many places and none at the same time.
Therefore the idea of home, culture, identity and place is for me a very fertile ground for investigation. I like to draw from holistic personal view on the world, where I habitually detects and am interested in links between places, similarities between people, congruences in landscapes, common wisdom and shared mythologies rather than differences and boundaries.
I am an avid wilderness lover and solo adventurer, and was lucky to roam the world alone before technology changed the pace of it all. The far away and wilderness, the Uknown are my comfort zone, always eager to see what is hiding and trying to see the frame between the frame, learn about other ways of articulating the way around us and translate that and the emotions derived into images and narratives.
My latest work, "Weeds or Flowers" is the fruit of a 3 month residency in Switzerland, where worked on the identity of the mountains and the toxic effect of tourism in that environment..
I drew a line between the world below and above, but more importantly a circle to include the forgotten public, those with limited mobility, visually impaired or deaf . I also wanted to make the public more aware of all the forgotten senses. With the students at l”Esav, for the first time in Morocco , an exhibition is conceptualise with a specific desire to set up practical steps include those who cant see, those who cant hear and those with limited mobility including a sensory room to render the mountains in all other ways than visual.
