Born in 1967, in the Middle Atlas, Khalil discovers photography and the magic of the process of film revelation very early. At the age of 12, he was already making pinholes to capture light.
After scientific studies, in Morocco and abroad, Khalil decided to focus exclusively on photography. He works as a photographer for the magazines that were born in the early 90s and shows a first personal work at the French Institute of Casablanca in 1996, "Casablanca Fragments of Imagination".
Khalil then turns to humanist photography before returning to the landscape. He published Portfolio in "La Revue Noire" in 1998 and has participated in several group and individual exhibitions since.
In 2009, his most emblematic series "The House of the Tree" is presented at the Biennale Photoquai of the Quai Branly Museum and the Carrousel du Louvre for the "Paris photo" It then goes on residences and exhibitions, including in 2010 , and 2012, at the "shart" gallery of Casablanca where he is represented.
He exhibits his work in prestigious festivals in Europe and the United States. His series, La Maison de l'Arbre, won the Francophonie prize at the international photography events in Bamako in 2011 and is nominated for the Prix Pictet.
Khalil has participated in several residencies of artists, including the City of Arts in Paris in 2010, and the Head of the Center for the Arts in San Fransisco in 2014. The photographic work of Khalil is present in several collections including those of the Mohamed VI Museum for Modern Art, The CDG Foundation, The Institute of the Arab World in Paris.

Né en 1967, dans le Moyen Atlas, Khalil découvre la photographie et la magie du processus de révélation argentique très tôt. A l'age de 12 ans , il fabriquait déjà des sténopés pour capturer la lumière.
Après des études scientifques, au Maroc et à l'étranger, Khalil décide de se consacrer exclusivement à la photographie. Il travaille en tant que photographe pour les magazines qui voyaient le jour au début des années 90 et montre un premier travail personnel à l'institut Français de Casablanca en 1996, « Casablanca Fragments d'Imaginaire ».
Khalil se penche ensuite sur la photographie humaniste avant de revenir vers le paysage. Il publie Portfolio dans « la Revue Noire », en 1998 et Participe à plusieurs expositions collectives et individuelles depuis.
En 2009, sa série la plus emblématique « la maison de l'arbre » est présentée à la biennale Photoquai du Musée du Quai Branly et au Carrousel du Louvre pour le « Paris photo » Il enchaîne ensuite des résidences et des expositions, notamment en 2010, et 2012, à la galerie « shart » de Casablanca où il est représenté.
Il expose ainsi son travail dans des festivals prestigieux en Europe et aux Etats Unis. Sa série la Maison de l'Arbre remporte le prix de la Francophonie aux rencontres internationales de la photographie à Bamako en 2011 et est nominée pour le Prix Pictet.
Khalil a participé à plusieurs résidences d'artistes donc La cité des arts à paris en 2010, et le Head land center for the arts à San Fransisco en 2014. Le travail photographique de Khalil Nemmaoui est présent dans plusieurs collections dont celles du Musée Mohamed VI pour l'art moderne, La fondation CDG, l'Institut du Monde Arabe à Paris.
