About your local photographer

I was born 1973 in Reykjavík, Iceland. I grew up with photography and studied mainly through working with my father, who is well known in Iceland for his aerial photography.

In 1993, I graduated from college (majoring in Natural Sciences) and moved to Trondheim, Norway, where I worked as a photographer and a lab technician at Melhuus A/S. Between 1994 and 1998, I continued to work with my dad and was responsible for both analog and digital processing in his company. Between 1998 and 1999, I moved to Viborg in Denmark to study photography at Medieskolerne. While there, I also worked for Grundfos a/s as a photographer, as well as doing my own little startup called Pixel Produktion. I moved back to Iceland just before the end of 1999 and throughout 2000-2001 I was the manager of The Icelandic Image Library. In 2001 I founded Dikta (professional digital photo lab) which I ran for a couple of years, until I went 100% freelance as a Photographer, Fineart Printer and Prepress Specialist.

I do all sorts of photography: People, events, landscape and architecture. I also do Fine Art Printing for artists and galleries and prepress work for publishing companies.

I gradually shifted my focus more and more into traveling and landscape photography since this is where my passion lies. In 2009 I decided to become a certified guide and entered the Certified Guide Course in the Continuing Education department of the University of Iceland which I graduated from in 2010. Now I enjoy doing what I love most – photography and traveling.

“Through my work as a photographer I have learned a lot. Every trip offers a new lesson. Both in photography and life itself. For me, the best moments in life are those when I connect with nature. That includes connecting with myself and others – since we are all an inseparable part of nature. - My mission is to share the passion of photography, create great memories and offer the best photographic experience – rain or shine, day or night.”

  • Spent a great day with CL in a small group with my film student son and wife. He picked us up from our hotel on the Snaesfellnes peninsular for a day exploring and taking pictures. We exchanged mails ahead of the trip and he brought along a sturdy tripod and a set of ND and graduated filters for us to play with in sometimes trying weather conditions - cold due to a fierce wind, even if the sky was pretty sunny. Originally we had planned a late afternoon start until around sunset - +/- 23:00, but given the windchill we decided to shift to a 10:00 pick-up and finished around six. Without a doubt CL helped us find locations that we would have missed travelling on our own, explaining through the eyes of a local Icelandic culture and geology. He was an engaging person with whom to spend a full day.
