I am a Hindu Photography Lectures

As a born African Hindu to African Hindu parents, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery to explore the space in which I find myself through this long-term personal project documenting the Hindu community. An insider to the community, I have a very intimate connection to the subject and a profound access to my subjects.

‘I Am A Hindu’ is a visual story documented whilst on an ongoing research grant as a National Geographic Explorer . I investigate how a religious practice of the people who lived beyond the river Indus (Sanskrit: Sindhu) following the Vedic period (1500BCE — 500BCE) in Northern India found its way into the African continent and became accepted and practiced contemporarily.
