Morocco - Happy Valley and the Atlas Mountains Photo Tour

Find your voice in Happy Valley and the Atlas Mountains.

This is a 3 day 2 nights photo tour in the Happy Valley of Ait Bouguemez around Marrakech in the Atlas Mountains.

The valley is ocre and different from the red and black mountains closer to Marrakech. Upon arrival in the afternoon, we will walk to a lookout by a very old marabout on a hill that gives a panoramic view over the various villages and the topography of the region.

Back to the base, we are welcomed by a wonderful home cooked meal and we can talk about the next days intentions/ goals specific to each client.

Dinners and a very copious breakfast are included .
The next day we hike a very beautiful gorge following a river bed where we end up by some remote shepherds houses and an incredible lunar landscape with rugged mountains, abandonned mud houses in places, donkeys carrying their loads of wood and seemingly knowing their way alone, occasionally we meet locals, women washing their laundry in the river or children. Locals in the remote part of the gorge are usually very keen to exchange a cup of tea and a piece of bread.

We will take time to look at the whole and the details.

I am available for technical skills but also help think of the narrative and voice for those who want to go a little beyond just photographing what they see. I would like to help you see in a different way, to find an angle, to show your voice during this trip which we can debrief in the evening.
The next day the return to Marrakech , we stop at a berber market if it is the right day of the week.

The trip can cover a range of photographic themes, along with honing your skills and expanding your range of knowledge . The primary theme is of course the mountains, their identity and their inhabitant and culture but there can be any ways to express the many layers to these themes ranging from abstract to documentary narrative. The locals can be friendly but taking photographs is something to be done with care and a skill to develop.

There is a possibility to add half a day to explore the village on the day of departure and have a tea at a local berber family and house .
